I wasn’t going to write another post about voting, but it’s hard to think about anything else these days. If you’re an American citizen, you better darned-well be waiting in line to vote this very minute…or dropping off your mail-in ballot at a designated Drop Box…or proudly displaying your “I voted” sticker (to keep people from pestering you about voting WEEKS after you already did)…or text/phone banking to GOTV, driving people to the polls, working the polls, or sharing information about voters’ rights to make sure no one’s legal vote is suppressed or impeded.
Oh, oops! You say you forgot there was an election today, and maybe you haven’t even registered yet? If you live in one of these states (Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, Washington,. Wisconsin, Wyoming) or the District of Columbia, you can actually register to vote the SAME DAY as the election! Take advantage and go, go, go!
Many of my friends have lamented that they didn’t get “I voted” stickers this year—either because their polling place didn’t have any or because they voted by mail and had the satisfaction of no lines, but with the added consequence of NO STICKERS! Fortunately, New York Magazine anticipated that “I Voted” stickers would be in high-demand during a presidential election as monumentally important as this one.
New York Magazine collaborated with 48 artists this year to design 48 unique “I Voted” stickers, 12 of which are included in each of their October 26 special collectible issues.
