The World’s Most Literary Cat

Cat-related issues have me very distracted/concerned/exhausted lately, and I needed some happy cat news as a pick-me-up.

Thus I present: Horatio, Centre County Library’s unofficial(?) mascot and book-and-movie promoter. Horatio is a beautiful orange tabby cat with seemingly endless costume changes—and seemingly endless patience.

The Bellefonte, Pennsylvania feline’s taste in literature and TV/film is wonderfully diverse. To promote the library’s offerings, Horatio has dressed as the protagonists of children’s books, classic novels, and BBC sci-fi series. He has transformed into rulers as varied as Queen Elizabeth, Mary Queen of Scots, and Daenerys Targaryen. He has posed as celebrated geniuses (Albert Einstein, Alan Turing), beloved icons (Mr. Rogers), and extraordinary women in history (Nellie Bly, Sandra Day O’Connor, Althea Gibson).

If Horatio has posed with a book, film, or TV series, it’s definitely worth checking out! (A cat of his caliber is never wrong.)

Follow the Centre County Library on social media (Website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), or visit in-person if you are in the Bellefonte, PA, area. It looks like a fun place to expand your literary and media horizons!
